A noblewoman of married to Nicostratus, a high Roman official/jailer during the reign of Emperor Diocletian. Mute for 6 years, she was healed when St. Sebastian made the sign of the cross over her and; immediately able to speak, she glorified Jesus and was baptized her. Her healing helped convert her family and the prisoners her husband was in charge of, who were baptized by St. Polycarp. Greatly devoted to St Peter, while praying at his she was arrested and martyred in 286, stifled by smoke while hung over a fire. Her body was then thrown into the River Tiber. She appeared to St. Sebastian in a vision before his martyrdom in 288.
