Born a Jew and called to be one of the 12 apostles, he is confused at the Last Supper when Christ says He’s leaving to prepare a place for them, and then reassured that Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Absent when the risen Lord appeared on the first Easter Sunday, “doubting Thomas” - eight days later on Christ’s second apparition - placed his fingers in the nail holes and his hand into Christ’s pierced side, exclaiming, “My Lord and My God!” He became a missionary to India where he died in an accidentally shooting. His symbols include an architect’s scroll and square, and a spear for the wound where his doubt became faith. Patron of architects
