Born in Avila, Spain in 1515, she entered the Carmelite convent where she began a reform movement. She founded sixteen convents and the Discalced Carmelites with St. John of the Cross. A mystic and Doctor of the Church, she wrote several famous books about her union with God including “The Interior Castle.” Patron of writers and headache sufferers.
