Feast Day: November 13

Born in 1550 in Poland, he was studious and devout, and at 15 walked 350 miles to join the Jesuits against his father’s wishes. At 16, he fell ill with fever but continued his duties without complaint. He prayed to St. Barbara, the patroness of a happy death, to receive Holy Communion before dying. As his fever increased, he had visions of a frightening black dog in his room; each time he made the Sign of the Cross and the dog fell to the floor. Every day he begged to receive Holy Communion. His prayers were answered when St. Barbara and two angels brought The Blessed Sacrament to his bedside. Our Lady also appeared with the Infant Jesus, placing Him in Stanislaus’ arms, instructing him to become a Jesuit before dying. He was cured and at 17 entered the Jesuits just 9 months before his death.
