A Russian saint venerated by the Eastern Orthodox and Catholic Church, he was a monk, mystic and spiritual leader. Healed by a Marian icon as a boy and ordained in 1793, he lived in a solitary forest hut for 25 years and befriended a wild bear. A vision of the Virgin Mary prompted him to welcome pilgrims, sharing his spirituality of prayer and rigorous self-discipline, attracting many. He believed the Christian life’s purpose was to acquire the Holy Spirit: “Acquire a peaceful spirit, and thousands around you will be saved.” He is depicted praying on a rock with his hands raised for 1000 consecutive nights and with a lestovka, leather prayer beads.

Made of wood, felt, ribbon, and handmade accessories. Includes tag and card with Saint's biography and description. Approximately 4" tall. Packaged in cellophane bag. Shipped in box with bubble wrap.
