Born in 1515 in Florence cheerful and obedient, at 18 he experienced a mystical vision that changed his life and set out for Rome. Striking up conversations to lead others to consider the Christian way, he asked “when shall we begin to do good?” On a Pentecost Eve he saw a globe of fire that appeared to enter his mouth, causing his heart to dilate so filled with Divine love, physically causing his rib cage to bow around his heart. He founded the Confraternity of the Most Holy Trinity, using a bell to call the faithful to the oratory.
