Born in 1673 in France the eldest of 18, he followed his uncle, a parish priest, and was ordained in 1700. He became known as a confessor, Marian devotee and founder of Sisters of Divine Wisdom and the Missionaries of the Company of Mary. As his missions and sermons raised complaints, the pope appointed him a missionary apostolic. Famous for fostering total consecration to Jesus through Mary and The Rosary through his books True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Secret of the Rosary. Reputation grew with hundreds of followers who constructed a huge Calvary scene that was destroyed by the king.
