Born of an illustrious family of Gaul, became Bishop of Le Mans, France for 49 years. At the start of his leadership, foreign pagan tribes roamed the land with chaos and misery. Liborius built many churches and celebrated the Eucharist with piety and dignity, with his well-trained diocesan priests triumphing over the Druids. Died in 397 with his trusted companion and fellow bishop St. Martin of Tours by his side. In 836, his relics were brought to Paderborn, Germany, a true act of charity from Le Mans, forming a lasting friendship between the two cities. Paderborn celebrates his feast day followed by a week of “Liborifest” with a procession through the city, Masses and other festivities. Legend tells that a peacock led the procession of his remains from Le Mans to Paderborn.

Patron of Paderborn, invoked against colic, fever and gallstones (on book he’s holding).
