An example of a self-denying Christian woman, living devoutly from her early years in Russia as an orphan while mocked by relatives. Her love for people was expressed by nursing the sick and sewing clothing for the poor. Marrying and bearing seven children, she continued to serve while intensifying her fasting and prayer, sleeping no more than two hours nightly on a board. Through epidemic and famine, she remained selfless. After the death of her husband, she distributed her inheritance to the poor, living in extreme poverty while thanking God. Dying in 1604, her relics were uncovered after ten years, exuding a fragrant myrrh bearing healings.
