Born in 1786 in France a witness to the French Revolution’s persecution of priests, young John desired this heroic vocation. Called to the priesthood but struggling in his studies interrupted by the Revolution, through hard work he was eventually ordained and sent to the French village of Ars. Despite demonic attacks, he cared deeply for the poor and brought his parish close to God, with the beloved, humble "Curé d'Ars" spending 16 hours a day hearing confessions. Deeply devoted to St. Philomena, he founded a home for orphaned girls. Each year over 20,000 pilgrims would travel to visit this holy priest. Patron of priests, reconciliation
