A follower of John the Baptist, he was the younger brother of James, the youngest of the Apostles, and the only Apostle to die naturally of old age. John, “the beloved”, was the only Apostle present at the cross with the Virgin Mary where Jesus entrusted him to care for His mother.

A Gospel writer, he is also credited with the Book of Revelation and three Epistles with his name. Feast Day: December 27
