Born in 1070 in Madrid, Spain of poor devout parents, he was a farm laborer. With piety toward the poor and animals, many miraculous events accompanied his farm work and continued after his death. When attending Mass or stopping to pray, angels continued plowing the fields for him. He and wife Maria shared their pot of stew with the hungry, always able to feed everyone. When their son fell into a well, the water miraculously brought him up through their prayers. When Isidore was scolded for pouring wheat out for the animals, it replenished, yielding double the expected amount.
