Born in 1291 to the King of Aragon, Spain. Baptized Elizabeth after her great-aunt St. Elizabeth of Hungary, she was known by the Spanish form, Isabel or Isabella. Beautiful and virtuous with a deep faith, at age 12 she was married to King Diniz (Denis) of Portugal and two children, Alfonso and Constance. While Diniz was unfaithful and unkind to her, she remained respectful and patient, praying for his conversion in her prayer life. Forbidden to give his riches away in alms, she is known for a miracle of bread donations turning to roses when discovered (like her great-aunt). Praying at the king’s bedside when he died in 1325, she was left with significant wealth to give to the poor, establishing orphanages and homeless shelters. Becoming a Franscican tertiary, she lived at the convent she founded in Coimbra. Known for settling disputes and avoiding bloodshed with her gentle nature, she was on an errand of reconciliation when she died at 45.

Made of wood, felt, ribbon, and handmade accessories. Includes tag and card with Saint's biography and description. Approximately 4" tall. Packaged in cellophane bag. Shipped in box with bubble wrap.
