Mother of Emperor Constantine the Great and Empress of the Roman Empire, born of a poor family in Asia Minor. Her loyal son loved her much; through his influence she converted. In 326 traveling to holy places in the Middle East, she located relics of Christian tradition, constructing churches including The Church of the Nativity and at His Ascension on the Mount of Olives. After destroying a Greek temple on the site of The Crucifixion, she discovered 3 crosses and with a miracle identified the True Cross, building The Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Discovering the nails, she put one in Constantine’s helmet and his horse’s bridle.
