Born in 463 in Wales to a chieftain Brycan or Brecknock, but converted to the faith. She was very fond of her brother, St. Nectan and followed him to Cornwall to be near his hermitage. She established several churches (church) and chapels in Devon and Cornwall, including St. Wenn, St Kew and Cheristow. When returning to Talgarth to visit her family she was murdered by the heathen Saxons who were attacking the town, thus receiving her martyr’s crown (palm) at age 29 in 492. Sometimes called Blanche, Wenn or Candida, she was a holy virgin (lilies).

Patron of infertility.
