Born in Lerida, Catalonia in modern Spain, she was the daughter of Almanzor, the Muslim caliph of the region. She converted to Christianity following her brother, St. Bernard of Lerida and her sister, St. Maria of Lerida. As a high power in the Muslim church, her father was greatly disgraced when the majority of his children converted; however, her other brother, Almanzor, didn’t convert and remained a Muslim but turned his siblings into authorities. They were tortured and martyred in 1180. Patron of Valencia, Spain.
