An Italian pediatrician born in 1922, she was the 10th of 13th children and openly accepted her Catholic faith from her loving parents who viewed life as a beautiful gift. Studying medicine in Milan, she applied her faith in service to the elderly and needy. She considered joining her missionary priest brother, but married Pietro Molla and formed a truly Christian family. In her 4th pregnancy, a uterine tumor was discovered. Unwilling to consider harming the baby and pleading to save the baby over her own life, Baby Gianna was safely born; her mother would die one week later.
