In 430, St. Germain saw young Genevieve while preaching near Paris and invited her to consecrate herself to Jesus. With no convents nearby, she lived a life of prayer and charity at home, often walking to church at night by candle. In 451, while Attila the Hun approached the city, she led Parisians in prayer and fasting, and the army turned away. After her death, her intercession in 1129 ended the violent burning fever that swept through the city when her shrine was processed to the cathedral and who touched it were healed. She carries a torch, the Eiffel Tower and bread for her generosity.
