Handmade original St. Cristobal Magallanes wooden doll ornament. Perfect for the Christmas Tree. Bring out on his feast day. Gift for a birthday or sacrament (Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Holy Orders, Marriage) celebration. Teacher, priest, grandparent gift.

Born in 1869 in Jalisco, Mexico, the son of farmers; enrolled in seminary at 19. Ordained at 30, worked in Guadalajara before returning to his hometown of Totatiche where he founded schools, carpentry shops and assisted in planning water works including a dam; also took special interest in the evangelization of the local indigenous people. Living under a very anti-Catholic Mexican government, churches, schools, and seminaries were closed, and foreign clergy expelled. Opened a seminary in Totatiche with 17 students. Wrote and preached against armed rebellion, but falsely accused of promoting the Cristeros Rebellion and arrested in 1927 while en route to celebrate Mass at a farm. Gave his executioners absolution, and without trial, killed four days later. Last words to his executioners: “I die innocent, and ask God that my blood may serve to unite my Mexican brethren.” In the movie “For Greater Glory” (2012), the fictional character “Fr Christopher” based on Fr Cristobal.
