Born in the early 300s in Kurdistan to a Greek-speaking Roman family, relatives of St. George. Moving to Iberia (Georgia), she was enslaved for her Catholic faith as a minority among Pagans; however, her humility, prayers, and miracles would convert thousands to the faith. In those times, when a child fell ill, the mother took the child door to door asking neighbors for cures; when a desperate mother came to Christiana’s door, she healed the baby saying, “Jesus, Jesus.” News spread and the Queen, an invalid, summoned her to her court for healing; “Jesus, Jesus” cured the Queen completely. Days later when the King was in peril on a hunting trip, he spoke “Jesus, Jesus” to his rescue; afterwards, he asked Christiana to catechize him, after which a legion of his subjects were baptized with him. The King declared Christianity the official religion in 327. Received a grapevine cross from the Virgin Mary in a vision, which she secured with a lock of her own hair forming a “living cross.”
