Born in France in 1073, educated by the abbot St. Bernard at Tyron abbey. Distinguished knight in the First Crusade. Once under siege, prayed to St. Madeleine, offering his hunting land to the abbey and to build a chapel to St. Madeleine; immediately a storm developed, allowing his troops to counterattack with victory. Captured by Muslims in Jerusalem, chained and tortured in a prison off the Palestine coast; miraculously escaped with the help of angels, diving into the Mediterranean Sea and swimming to safety. Became a Benedictine monk and hermit at the Tyron abbey on the River Seine, performing miracles, caring for the poor. When a nearby river whirlpool was causing boat wrecks, sailed out to its edge with a local bishop; they sprinkled holy water into it with a blessing and Adjutor threw his chains of captivity into it, immediately calming the water. Died in 1131, healing miracles still occur at his tomb.

Patron of swimmers, boaters, yachtsmen.
