A title of The Blessed Virgin Mary, the devotion originated with a 1700 painting venerated in St. Peter’s church in Perlack, Germany. It was inspired by St. Irenaeus comparison between Eve and Mary, “Eve, by her disobedience, tied the know of disgrace for the human race; whereas Mary, by her obedience undid it.” The knots are the problems and struggles we face for which we do not see any solution. She will take our knots - which are made up of everything that is not the will of God - and unravel them one by one. Mary, who crushes the evil with her feet, brings promises of victory, peace, blessings and reconciliation.
