Our Lady appeared on February 11, 1858, in Lourdes, France to 14-year old Bernadette Soubirous in the cave of Massabielle while she was gathering firewood with her sister and a friend. She asked Bernadette to dig in the mud and drink from the water that sprung forth.
Similar apparitions of the "Lady" to Bernadette were reported on eighteen occasions that year, until the climax revelation on March 25th when Our Lady stated, “I am the Immaculate Conception.”
