The first Marian apparition in Kibeho, Rwanda, Africa occurred on November 28, 1981, when a high school student saw a lady of incomparable beauty who presented herself as the “Mother of the Word.” Occurring several times in succession with other students, in August 1982, the visionaries reported gruesome images of a foreshadowing of the Rwandan genocide of 1994-95. Dressed in blue and white, carrying an Our Lady of Sorrows Rosary, with multi-colored flowers at her feet, she asked for conversion, to keep the faith, and to pray without hypocrisy.
