An obedient servant of God amidst a sinful world. Built an ark to God’s instruction that preserved himself and his family, and two of every land animal from a great flood that God unleashed in judgment upon the earth. Rain fell and floodwaters rose for 40 days, then Noah opened the hatch to release a raven (a sign of God’s providence) which flew back and forth until the waters dried. He then released a dove, but not finding a place to perch, it returned to him. After 7 days he released again; the dove returned with an olive leaf. After another 7 days, he released it again and it didn’t return. The ark was opened! After the flood (baptism) and the dove (Holy Spirit) God comforted them with His “bow” in the sky, a rainbow, reminding He would never flood the earth again.
