Born in Turin, Italy in 1901 to the wealthy La Stampa newspaper family, a pius youth who quietly donated to the poor. His works of charity, social action and prayer gained him friends throughout the poor community. He loved mountain climbing and led Catholic youth groups there for peace and prayer. Devoted to the Holy Eucharist and the Virgin Mary through the Rosary - the two poles of his prayer life - he was called a “Man of the Eight Beatitudes.” Stricken by illness and dying at 24, when his family left his funeral Mass, they were shocked to see the streets full of his common admirers. His body remains incorrupt in Turin.
