Born October 29, 1971 in Sassello, Italy, the only child of parents who prayed 11 years to conceive. With a solid Christian education from her family, at 9 she joined the Focolare Movement (“The Work of Mary”) deepening her relationship with God and Blessed Mother. A modern teenager, beautiful and sportive with many friends, she liked to sing, dance, skate, and play tennis. Struck with bone cancer (yellow ribbon) at 17, she entrusted herself to God completely; “if you want it, Jesus, so do I.” Over the two-year battle, she was serenity and joy, even planning her funeral Mass (“wedding”), happy to meet her bridegroom, Christ. Moments before her death on October 7, 1990, she told her mother, “Be happy because I am.”
